Description
Enjoy the experience of making your own Beeswax Wraps with this special limited Do-It-Yourself Kit.
You may have thought about making beeswax wraps at home but perhaps something stood in your way, like sourcing the wax for instance. Getting the right mixture of beeswax, tree resin and coconut oil is the hardest part of making beeswax wraps that last – so we’ve done the hard part for you…and all the ingredients are sustainably sourced.
Our new DIY Beeswax Wraps Kit comes with our special SuperBee wax blend, which is a mixture of sustainably harvested, pesticide-free beeswax, organic coconut oil and tree resin.
It includes 3 sheets of 100% organic cotton fabrics (S, M and L size) and enough wax to make 6 more wraps!
The instructions include two methods – one method using an oven (see below) and just in case you don’t have one, one method using an iron.
BONUS: with enough extra wax for 6 or more wraps, you can start recycling any used T-shirts, sheets or leftover fabrics from sewing projects that you’ve been saving….give new life to old fabric!
The DIY kit is a great way to launch yourself into using more sustainable practices at home, plus it’s a fun activity to do with friends or the kids.
The Variety
The fabrics combination contained in each DIY kit is unique and taken from loose scraps of organic cotton sheets left behind after making the SuperBee Beeginner sets. This is SuperBee’s ingenious way of upcycling the remaining fabrics.
The variety listed is based on the large wrap (33 x 33 cm) that is visibly wrapping the entire kit.
How to Make Beeswax Wraps: Method 1 – In the Oven
The instructions are simple and easy to follow so you don’t have to worry if you’ve never done anything like this before. Just take a look at one of the methods below!
(Note – wax is sticky! You’ll want to make sure you have your workspace covered and use an old grater and cookie sheet that can be just for crafts.)
- First, grate the beeswax solution bar
- Take an oven tray, line it with baking paper or a reusable silicone mat and place fabric on top.
- Sprinkle wax onto fabric – less is more.
- Heat oven to 75°Celsius.
- Place tray in oven with the door open for approximately 2 minutes until wax melts.
- Using oven mitts, take the tray out. Using a basting brush, brush the melted wax over the edges of the cloth to make a clean corner finish and carefully lift the wax wrap off the tray.
- Hang wrap on string (be careful of dripping wax from the wax wrap to the floor). You can also hold the wax wrap up for half a minute and wait for the wax to dry.
Disclaimer: We do not open each kit to check the fabric design of small (20 x 20 cm) and medium wraps (26 x 26 cm) contained inside the kit. So, what you get inside will be two other random fabric designs (not shown here).
